Artist Statement
My work is focused on the the current full-scale invasion on Ukraine by the Russian forces and has broadened into sculpture, installation, photography and film. Dealing with topics like civilian resistance, and resilience to war, the modern day warfare, and the effect of first person drones, as well as my own experience with family and friends in the Country.

Traveling to the war-torn Country in 2023 Sasha spent time interviewing and recording various artists affected, as well as his own family, some of whom are fighting on the front line in Donbas.

Moving from Sumy, Ukraine at the age of 10, for him drawing has always been a constant and a way to process the world as he was learning English. Pursuing a career in Ceramic Arts he received his Bachlor of Fine Arts from Boise State University in 2014. Shortly after receiving his Undergraduate degree he moved to Philadelphia, PA where he worked as a Work Exchange and a teaching artist at the Clay Studio of Philadelphia as well running a studio/storefront from 2017-2020. Sasha is the recipient of the 2019 Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist award, as well as the Alexa Rose Foundation artist grant. Teaching has been an integral part of Sasha’s art practice.
