Artist Statement:
I have a BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1987 and an MFA in photography from Rhode Island School of Design in 1995. I was the photography assistant at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in 1994 in the summer between my two years at RISD.I created a documentary video, “ROAD WORK” for my thesis at RISD which went on to receive awards and shows at various film festivals. I then worked creating artist videos for the Westchester Arts Council, and making a variety of documentary videos on the east coast before moving back to Boulder in 1997. I became a full time still photographer within a year and have also been a gardener, photographer and lover of the earth for 30 years. This has allowed me to observe nature, changing landscapes, plant behavior and insect life intimately and while also pursuing my love of beauty in nature.

My making of personal art has taken a bit of a pause while raising a daughter as a single mom and running a garden business, Barb’s Boulder Gardens, and my photography business, 11:11 Productions. Earlier this year, I self published a collaborative book of my photography paired with my deceased grandmother’s words spoken in 2000 called The Many Stages of Love. I am thrilled to be invited to this collective and create meaningful work for the exhibitions.
