BIOGRAPHY
Gavin is interested in creating broken down fictional worlds that comment on the shared experiences of all life. Through his paintings drawings and sculptures he presents dramatic scenes that address natural relationships and impending doom. He is interested in the relationship between 2-D and 3-D work and how one area of his practice can influence another. His goal, as an artist, is to create believable worlds for the viewer to enjoy and lose themselves in. He often develops every aspect of his worlds by creating props, taking reference photos, and inventing backstories as a way of creating a believable fiction. His recent body of work explores a series of slow repeating dramas through painting, drawing, and sculpture. This series contrasts ideas of good and evil, animate and inanimate, and knowing and unknowing as a means of creating a world that is both beautiful and horrible.

Gavin Weir graduated in 2021 with his BFA from Grand Valley State University, in Allendale Michigan. Since then he has shown his work in group shows, primarily in Michigan. He now lives and works in Denver, Colorado. He currently works as an assistant for Denver based public artist, David Ocelotl Garcia. Gavin has assisted with sculptures, murals, and most notably the Two Bridges Public Art Project in Denver. He joined the Artnauts in late 2022.
